Ubuntu is a community developed operating system that is perfect for laptops and desktops. Whether you use it at home, at school or at work Ubuntu contains all the applications you'll ever need, from word processing and email applications, to web server software and programming tools.

Ubuntu is completely open source, which means you modify, redistribute and share Ubuntu with your friends, family, school or business for absolutely nothing.
Updates are and always will be totally free. The designers of Ubuntu initiate a new desktop release every six months, which means you'll always have the latest and greatest applications that the open source world has to offer.

Ubuntu is designed with security in mind. You get free security updates for at least 18 months. Again, upgrades to new versions of Ubuntu are and always will be free of charge.
Everything you need comes on one CD, providing a complete working environment. Additional software is available online.
The graphical installer enables you to get up and running quickly and easily. A standard installation should take less than 25 minutes. Once installed your system is immediately ready-to-use. On the desktop you have a full set of productivity, internet, drawing and graphics applications, and games.
With Ubuntu Desktop Edition you can surf the web, read email, create documents and spreadsheets, edit images and much more. Ubuntu has a fast and easy graphical installer right on the Desktop CD. On a typical computer the installation should take you less than 25 minutes.

We've done all the hard work for you. Once Ubuntu is installed, all the basics are in place so that your system will be immediately usable.

OpenOffice contains a user interface and feature set that is similar to other office suites, and includes all the key desktop applications you need, such as Word Processing software, Spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and more. You'll be able to find help using the desktop browser or online. If you have a question about using Ubuntu, you can bet someone else has already asked it. The Ubuntu community has developed a range of documentation that may contain the answer to your question, or give you ideas about where to look. When you purchase your copy of Ubuntu from Dynamite CS, you also will recieve a thorough and easy-to-use manual, which will resolve any problem that you encounter.

You'll also get access to free support from the Ubuntu community in the chat and mailing lists in many languages. Alternatively, you can purchase additional professional support from Dynamite CS: We will resolve your purchased software problem in 48 hours or less, or you don't pay one cent!

Gobuntu

Gobuntu is a GNU/Linux operating system, derived from Ubuntu, that endeavors to adhere to the Free Software Foundation's four freedoms and intends to provide a base for other free software platforms to build upon with minimal modification required. It does this by only including open-source non-restricted software. This means there will be no firmware, drivers, applications, or content included in Gobuntu that does not include the full source or whose license does not provide the right to use, study, modify, and redistribute the body of work.
Gobuntu shares the same system requirements as Ubuntu. At present, this means Gobuntu is available for 32-bit and 64-Bit PC architectures and the install requires at least 4 GB of disk space.

Why would I want Gobuntu?
If you are looking to build a free software distribution based off of Ubuntu, or you wish to use an operating system that only provides you with truly free software and content, you should consider trying Gobuntu.

Please note that because running Gobuntu on most laptops and many desktops will be difficult, Gobuntu is intended for experienced Linux enthusiasts at this time.

Edubuntu

The Edubuntu expansion pack for Ubuntu is used in primary and secondary schools around the world. It is an excellent education tool that is customized for Education use.

Edubuntu contains a large number of educational applications including GCompris, KDE Edutainment Suite, and Schooltool Calendar. Edubuntu is developed to enable teachers/lecturers with limited technical knowledge and skills to set-up a computer lab, or establish an online learning environment, in an hour or less, and then administer that environment.
KDE Edutainment Suite

A collection of fun educational software that makes use of the KDE framework. Its primary focus is on schoolchildren aged 3 to 18, and the specialised user interface needs of young users. However, there are also programmes to aid teachers in planning lessons, and others that are of interest to university students, and anyone else with a desire to learn.

GCompris offers a huge collection of activities for the children in nursery/kindergarden, gently introducing them to basic computer use, then expanding to basic maths, reading activities, and more.

System Requirements: Edubuntu is available for PC architectures.
Full installation of all software packages requires at least 2.5 GB of disk space (if not all packages are installed, required disk space is significantly smaller), a CPU of at least 1 GHz, and 256 MB of RAM plus an additional 128 MB of RAM per thin client (e.g. a server driving two clients should have at least 512 MB RAM).
